Raghuvanshi, (Programme Coordinator, State Security) C.S. V.T.U. Blood donation program was organized under the guidance of Bhilai's guidance and program officer of National Service Scheme Yogendra Kumar, Dr. Anchala Jain.

On this occasion, the program officers told the volunteers that every year there is a special theme for Blood Donor Day. The theme of this year 2023 is 'Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.' (Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.) World Blood Donation Day is being celebrated. Addressing the volunteers, he said that your donated blood can save someone's life. If someone has been injured in an accident and has lost a lot of blood or due to some disease there is a lack of blood in the body, then blood is required. If blood is not received on time, then the person's life can be lost. World Blood Donation Day is celebrated every year on 14 June to increase the awareness of donating blood among the people. The World Health Organization (WHO) started celebrating World Blood Donor Day in 2004. Since then, World Blood Donor Day was celebrated every year on 14 June. Scientist Karl Landsteiner discovered the blood group system. Karl Landsteiner was also awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his contribution. Blood Donation Day is dedicated to scientist Karl Landsteiner, whose birthday falls on 14 June. On this day men, women and volunteers of every country donate blood and plasma to the needy. Blood donation camps are also organized on this day. According to the World Health Organization, about 118.54 million people donate blood every year. Along with this, he told that whether you want to donate blood or plasma or platelets, your health should be good for this. You yourself should not be physically weak, there should be no shortage of blood in your body, you should be at least 18 years of age to donate blood. No maximum age has been fixed for this. Even at the age of 60, if you are fit and are not suffering from any major disease, then you can donate blood. To donate blood, the body weight should be at least 50 kg, as well as there should not be any serious illness or blood disorder.
