An auspicious program of Independence Day was organized under the joint auspices of SSPU and SSTC in the premises of Advait Bhawan of Shankaracharya Professional University, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The program was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the University I.P. Mishra hoisted the flag. After the flag hoisting, I.P. Mishra addressed the students and professors of the university. He started his address by saluting the brave sons, revolutionaries and martyr patriots. In his address, he said that in the series of “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav” celebrations, the theme of Independence Day 2023 is “Nation First, Always First”. Under which India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day with a special program called “Meri Mati, Mera Desh”.

The Chancellor said that India's independence is one of the most important events in the history of India. It was the end of a long, arduous battle against British rule. It is a great saga of how the Indian people fought for their rights, culture and identity from the harsh British rule. The freedom struggle was a tough and long battle and many freedom fighters and great men laid down their lives for the country. Independence Day symbolizes the spirit of resistance, unity and sacrifice that led to India's independence and its rise as a sovereign country. He also said that India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world with multicolored diversity and rich cultural heritage. Along with this, it has also been molding itself with the changing times. After getting independence, India has made multidimensional social and economic progress. India has become self-sufficient in agriculture and is now counted among the most industrialized countries in the world. As the seventh largest country in the world, India stands out from the rest of Asia, characterized by mountains and seas that give it a distinct geographical identity.

A colorful program was presented by the students of the university. Beautiful performance was given by MBA students Vishal, Sara and Abhinav on “Talvaron Pe Sir Vaar Diye” and “Vande Mataram” by Shubham, Bhawna, Shyam. Program conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Samta Deshpandey did it. In this festival of independence, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. AK Jha, Registrar P.K. Mishra and Director of SSTC Dr. Pratap B. Deshmukh including students, research scholars, professors, officers-employees and dignitaries, all the students and teachers and staff were present.
